UniCare Life and Health Company was started in 1995 to promote the product of Wellpoint Insurance outside the state of California. Now they have grown into their own, providing families around the state plenty of options when it comes to keeping their loved ones healthy.
Their coverage plans may vary in deductible and premium costs, but they all have one thing in common: they all offer members benefits that outweigh the cost of coverage. Plans currently offered to families include:
UniCare PPO: The maximum family deductible for this plan is $2000. For most services the co-insurance is 20%, including preventive care for children to age six, adult preventive care, hospitalization, outpatient, and professional services. For office visits you pay a co-pay for the first four visits per year, then UniCare pays 80% (if you have met your deductible).
Premier no deductible: The maximum out of pocket families will need to pay is $6000. Preventive care for adults and children, in-patient and outpatient care, and professional services are paid at 80%. Office visits are a $30 co-pay regardless of how many visits families make per year, and prescription drug benefits are offered with a $10 co-pay for generic and $25 co-pay for brand names.

UniCare Life and Health Company also offers families three consumer-driven options through their HSA-compatible plans. In addition, they offer short term plans, dental coverage and a myriad of discount options for products such as child-proofing tools, supplements, meditative tapes and allergy medications. Other discounts are available for dental whitening, vision care and VPI pet insurance. UniCare offers enrollees peace of mind and a myriad of options that especially benefit those who are willing to use network doctors.
