Destiny Health is a new company with a
new approach to health care. Started in 2000 with the
vision of putting more control of health care and health
costs in the hands of customers, Destiny offers plans
and benefits customized to fit customer demands. Serving
57,000 customers in the state of Illinois, Density continues
to grow in size and reputation.
Destiny offers one innovative product,
in conjunction with a traditional health plan, for all
of its members: the Personal Medical Fund (PMF). This
product works like a savings account, where your deposits
are either utilized or stay in the account to be used
later. This is different from traditional financial
models for health insurance, where your premium is paid
whether or not you utilize any services. Deposits to
the PMF can fall under the same laws as health savings
accounts (HSAs), which are tax-exempt.
Customers using Destiny's PMF get benefit
incentives when they make healthy choices and take care
of their won health. However, if unforeseen health circumstances
should arrive, those customers still have access to
traditional comprehensive coverage. This comprehensive
plan begins paying benefits after the yearly deductible
is met, which can also be done through payments made
out of the PMF. Destiny touts this model as cheaper
than comparable coverage in most categories.
