Health Insurance Options from Capital Blue Cross

Capital Blue Cross has plans for families and individuals and plans for those transitioning out of group coverage into individual coverage. They offer traditional indemnity, where you are covered wherever you go, and a comprehensive plan which makes use of their physician network. Here are some details of plans available from Capital Blue Cross for individuals and families:

* Traditional Plan - With Capital Blue Cross' Traditional plan, you are covered for hospitalization, doctor visits and prescription drugs. In addition to these major medical services, you get preventative care, including gynecological visits and immunizations; home health care; private nursing care and hospice benefits.

* Comprehensive Plan - Benefits on Capital's Comprehensive plan are similar to those on its traditional plan, but some coinsurance costs may apply for certain benefits. In addition, benefits are higher and out-of-pocket costs are lower when you use participating physicians from within their network.

* HIPAA Comprehensive - This plan is designed to mitigate pre-existing condition exclusions for those leaving a group plan. If you have been insured by a group plan and are leaving that plan, but have a pre-existing condition, you might be eligible for this plan mandated by the Health Insurance Portability and Affordability Act (HIPAA). Benefits for eligible members are similar to Capital BC's Comprehensive plan.

Other Products from Capital Blue Cross

Capital Blue Cross also offers short-term insurance, for those who are graduating school or leaving a family plan, and Special Care insurance, a limited insurance plan meant to cover major medical incidents with no deductible.
