Recently, the BCBS Michigan Foundation has been given three awards from Wilmer Shields Rich Awards Program for excellence in communications. Michigan families benefit from the nonprofit status of Blue Cross Blue Shield Michigan along with Blue Safe for Michigan, a discounted program to help families buy helmets and other safety equipment. Also, Naturally Blue helps members get massage and acupuncture service at a discount. BCBS of Michigan offers families plenty of options when it comes to keeping their loved ones healthy.
Coverage plans vary in deductible and premium costs, increasing the odds that parents will find a plan that works for their family. Plans currently offered to families include:
Individual Care Blue: no deductible with this plan; $2500 maximum co-pay at 30% per service. Maternity, office visits and preventive care (except mammograms) are not covered. Prescriptions are covered by 50% with a minimum $10 co-pay.
Blue Cross Traditional: this plan covers medical emergencies including hospital and surgical expense. Enrollees are free to choose any doctor. With five deductible options as well as ”Value Blue,” flexibility is paramount.
Blue Preferred PPO: members choosing one of these three plans are encouraged to use network providers. There is little out-of-pocket costs for hospital, surgical and medical coverage.
Blue Care Michigan Personal Plus HMO: This organized plan offers major medical coverage as well as child care immunizations, maternity and wellness. It does not offer dental or prescription coverage.
