Families are perhaps the biggest beneficiaries of Aetna's overall success. In 2004, Wyeth Pharmaceuticals and America's Health Insurance Plans honored the company with the 2004 HERA award for its Adolescent Immunization Program. With this program, Aetna has reached out to a far more diverse population than other comparable-sized insurance companies. Besides the popularity of its outreach programs, Aetna also offers enrollees flu shots, a 24-hour nurse hotline, and a resource connection that brings with it discounts for business supplies and products in such places as Staples and OfficeMax.

Aetna Health Insurance Options

Aetna offers families plenty of options when it comes to keeping their loved ones healthy. Their PPO plans vary enough to please all sizes and types of families. Popular Aetna plans offered to families include:

  • PPO 500: This plan is very flexible, providing low annual deductibles and lower copays. Their monthly payments are higher than other plans available.

  • PPO 1500: This preferred provider organization plan is also very flexibility and offers enrollees a low deductible. However, they have high premiums.

  • PPO 5000: For families who need low monthly payments, this plan is a good option, but the tradeoff is in higher co pays and deductibles as high as $10,000.

Aetna's many PPO plans offer enrollees peace of mind and a myriad of options that especially benefit those who are willing to use network doctors. Perhaps this is why Aetna has consistently received excellent ratings from the four largest ratings companies.
