TIG Premier Insurance Company merged with International Insurance in December 2002, creating what is known as a runoff group, a smaller subsidiary of a large corporation. Fairfax Financial Holdings Inc.is the parent company to TIG Insurance Group. Recently it restructured the company, leaving its future uncertain for now. Their individual and family health insurance is in flux as well, leaving A.M. Best, the insurance ratings company most familiar to those in search of quality health coverage, to place its financial strength ratings of TIG Premier, which is currently "B++" under review.
Standard and Poor has not changed its financial rating of TIG, choosing instead to leave its financial strength rating at BB for the time being. While the future is in no way certain, those who have had TIG Premier health coverage before will continue to be afforded quality and excellent customer service, maybe with a new look or face to go along with it.
